Shaw picked up an injury against Brentford. Martial probably isn’t ready to start a game yet. Eriksen is just back in training, and Casemiro is still suspended. Here’s how United could line up for tomorrow’s early kick-off at Old Trafford.
Team:
De Gea
Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
McTominay Fernandes
Sabitzer
Antony Rashford Sancho
Dalot had one of his best-ever games against Brentford after being poor since returning from the World Cup, so he is likely to continue at fullback ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Varane is always a doubt when the games are thick and fast, but given the Europa Cup game against Seville isn’t until Thursday, he’ll probably start alongside Martinez. Shaw is a doubt. He came off early against Brentford with what looked like a hamstring tweak which makes his participation highly unlikely.
Fred could get a start, but given how well McTominay and Sabitzer played, expect them to continue alongside the ever-present Fernandes. Sabitzer did exceptionally well playing in a much more advanced role supporting Rashford. Hopefully, that sees the start of a gradual move away from Weghorst playing. More minutes will help Sancho. Though not spectacular, he is making progress as his minutes rack up.
Score: 2-0
Everton are not as good a side as Brentford, but they will fight hard early on. Sean Dyche will see to that. If United can score early and not gift Everton chances, then the three points should be safe.
