With Barcelona out of the way in the Europa, United eyes turn to Sunday’s League Cup Final against Newcastle at Wembley. Kicking off at 4:30 pm United are sure to field a strong eleven, but doubts remain over Rashford, who went off in Thursday’s victory. There are no other major injury surprises. As so often is the case, Martial won’t be available and listening to Erik Ten Hag’s Press Conference (linked below), it sounds like the manager may have lost patience with the French striker.
In defence, the only real question is who plays at right fullback. Dalot is better at attacking, but Wan Bisakka has improved massively, and with Antony again available Ten Hag could opt to reunite that partnership on the right. We’ve gone for Dalot, but it could go either way.
The midfield picks itself. Casemiro and Fernandes are undroppable and, in big games, the chaos and destruction that Fred unleashes on opponents are essential to free the attacking talents around him.
Upfront, Weghorst will probably start just for his closing down. Rashford is a doubt and if he is out we could look somewhat toothless. In that case, we’d go Garnacho, Weghorst, and Antony. If he’s fit it’ll be Rashford, Weghorst, and Antony. Sancho and Garnacho can come off the bench later in the game if things need to be changed.

Manchester United Cup Final Team (Predicted)
Score Prediction: 3-1
They will be playing for extra time and penalties with the off chance of scoring from a set piece then hanging on. The sooner we score the better or else it’ll be intensely frustrating as Newcastle waste as much time as humanly possible. An early goal would force them into attacking and we should be able to pick them off from there.
