Munich Air Disaster 6th February 1958

February 6, 2023

Sixty-five years on today, the Munich Air Disaster decimated the famous Busby Babes. Returning to Manchester victorious after knocking out Red Star Belgrade, the flight stopped to refuel in Munich. After two failed take-offs and with snow falling and conditions deteriorating, an overnight stay was rejected in favour of one last attempt. That final attempt would cost twenty-three lives, twenty who died at the scene.

Manchester United Foundation have marked the anniversary with a moving poem from current players and participants in the charity.

For Manchester United, will never die ❤️

Foundation participants came together with @B_Fernandes8, @MarcusRashford, @ellatoone99 and @katiezelem to mark the 65th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster with this moving poem.
