Predicted United XI v Palace

January 18, 2023

A strong team is expected to play tonight against Crystal Palace. Will Shaw continue at centre-back? Is Martial fit to play? Could Weghorst start and will Erik ten Hag risk Casemiro picking up a yellow card and missing the Arsenal game? Here’s the team we expect to play:

In the back four, we expect Martinez to get a start and Shaw to revert to his fullback position. Varane will have the vastly improved Wan-Bissaka outside him.

There is a question about playing Casemiro in this game as he’s one booking from a suspension, but it’s probably worth the risk and worrying about Arsenal later. Fernandes starts no matter what but we expect him to be back to playing through the middle with Eriksen floating around him and Casemiro.

Upfront, Rashford leads the line in Martial’s absence. The Frenchman seems unable to shake off a persistent niggle and has not looked close to match fit recently. Garnacho and Antony start on either flank. Expect Weghorst on the bench.

It would not be a surprise if Erik ten Hag shocked us with his starting eleven. He often does.
